Bhlhe40 | Class E basic helix-loop-helix protein 40; Transcriptional repressor involved in the regulation of the circadian rhythm by negatively regulating the activity of the clock genes and clock-controlled genes. Acts as the negative limb of a novel autoregulatory feedback loop (DEC loop) which differs from the one formed by the PER and CRY transcriptional repressors (PER/CRY loop). Both these loops are interlocked as it represses the expression of PER1/2 and in turn is repressed by PER1/2 and CRY1/2 (By similarity). Represses the activity of the circadian transcriptional activator: CLOCK- ARN [...] (411 aa) | ||||
Msl1 | Male-specific lethal 1 homolog; Component of histone acetyltransferase complex responsible for the majority of histone H4 acetylation at 'Lys-16' (H4K16ac) which is implicated in the formation of higher-order chromatin structure. Greatly enhances MSL2 E3 ubiquitin ligase activity, promoting monoubiquitination of histone H2B at 'Lys-35' (H2BK34Ub) (By similarity). This modification in turn stimulates histone H3 methylation at 'Lys-5' (H3K4me) and 'Lys-80' (H3K79me) and leads to gene activation, including that of HOXA9 and MEIS1 (By similarity). In the MSL complex, acts as a scaffold to [...] (616 aa) |
