Nkx6-1 | Homeobox protein Nkx-6.1; Transcription factor which binds to specific A/T-rich DNA sequences in the promoter regions of a number of genes. Required for the development of insulin-producing beta cells in the islets of Langerhans at the secondary transition. Involved in transcriptional regulation of the insulin gene. Together with NKX2-2 and IRX3, restricts the generation of motor neurons to the appropriate region of the neural tube. Belongs to the class II proteins of neuronal progenitor factors, which are induced by SHH signals. (365 aa) | ||||
Bmp1 | Bone morphogenetic protein 1; Cleaves the C-terminal propeptides of procollagen I, II and III. Induces cartilage and bone formation. May participate in dorsoventral patterning during early development by cleaving chordin (CHRD) (By similarity). Responsible for the proteolytic activation of lysyl oxidase LOX. (991 aa) |
