Hopx | Homeodomain-only protein; Atypical homeodomain protein which does not bind DNA and is required to modulate cardiac growth and development. Acts via its interaction with SRF, thereby modulating the expression of SRF- dependent cardiac-specific genes and cardiac development. Prevents SRF- dependent transcription either by inhibiting SRF binding to DNA or by recruiting histone deacetylase (HDAC) proteins that prevent transcription by SRF. Overexpression causes cardiac hypertrophy. Acts as a co-chaperone for HSPA1A and HSPA1B chaperone proteins and assists in chaperone-mediated protein ref [...] (73 aa) | ||||
Tcf23 | Transcription factor 23; Inhibits E-box-mediated binding and transactivation of bHLH factors. Inhibitory effect is similar to that of ID proteins. Inhibits the formation of TCF3 and MYOD1 homodimers and heterodimers. Lacks DNA binding activity. May be involved in the regulation or modulation of smooth muscle contraction of the uterus during pregnancy and particularly around the time of delivery. Seems to play a role in the inhibition of myogenesis. (209 aa) |
