Maff | Transcription factor MafF; Since they lack a putative transactivation domain, the small Mafs behave as transcriptional repressors when they dimerize among themselves. However, they seem to serve as transcriptional activators by dimerizing with other (usually larger) basic-zipper proteins, such as NFE2L1/NRF1, and recruiting them to specific DNA-binding sites. Interacts with the upstream promoter region of the oxytocin receptor gene. May be a transcriptional enhancer in the up-regulation of the oxytocin receptor gene at parturition. (156 aa) | ||||
Sumf1 | Formylglycine-generating enzyme; Oxidase that catalyzes the conversion of cysteine to 3- oxoalanine on target proteins, using molecular oxygen and an unidentified reducing agent. 3-oxoalanine modification, which is also named formylglycine (fGly), occurs in the maturation of arylsulfatases and some alkaline phosphatases that use the hydrated form of 3- oxoalanine as a catalytic nucleophile. Known substrates include GALNS, ARSA, STS and ARSE; Belongs to the sulfatase-modifying factor family. (372 aa) |
