Maff | Transcription factor MafF; Since they lack a putative transactivation domain, the small Mafs behave as transcriptional repressors when they dimerize among themselves. However, they seem to serve as transcriptional activators by dimerizing with other (usually larger) basic-zipper proteins, such as NFE2L1/NRF1, and recruiting them to specific DNA-binding sites. Interacts with the upstream promoter region of the oxytocin receptor gene. May be a transcriptional enhancer in the up-regulation of the oxytocin receptor gene at parturition. (156 aa) | ||||
Rusc1 | RUN and SH3 domain-containing protein 1; Putative signaling adapter which may play a role in neuronal differentiation. May be involved in regulation of NGF-dependent neurite outgrowth. Proposed to play a role in neuronal vesicular trafficking, specifically involving pre-synaptic membrane proteins. Seems to be involved in signaling pathways that are regulated by the prolonged activation of MAPK. Can regulate the polyubiquitination of IKBKG and thus may be involved in regulation of the NF-kappa-B pathway. (1030 aa) |
