Bach2 | Transcription regulator protein BACH2; Transcriptional regulator that acts as repressor or activator. Binds to Maf recognition elements (MARE). Plays an important role in coordinating transcription activation and repression by MAFK. Induces apoptosis in response to oxidative stress through repression of the antiapoptotic factor HMOX1 (By similarity). Positively regulates the nuclear import of actin. Is a key regulator of adaptive immunity, crucial for the maintenance of regulatory T-cell function and B-cell maturation ; Belongs to the bZIP family. CNC subfamily. (839 aa) | ||||
Bace1 | Beta-secretase 1; Responsible for the proteolytic processing of the amyloid precursor protein (APP). Cleaves at the N-terminus of the A-beta peptide sequence, between residues 671 and 672 of APP, leads to the generation and extracellular release of beta-cleaved soluble APP, and a corresponding cell-associated C-terminal fragment which is later released by gamma-secretase. Cleaves CHL1. (501 aa) |
