Asxl1 | Polycomb group protein ASXL1; Probable Polycomb group (PcG) protein involved in transcriptional regulation mediated by ligand-bound retinoic acid receptors (RARs) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARG). Acts as a coactivator of RARA and RXRA through association with NCOA1. Acts as a corepressor for PPARG and suppresses its adipocyte differentiation-inducing activity. Non-catalytic component of the PR-DUB complex, a complex that specifically mediates deubiquitination of histone H2A monoubiquitinated at 'Lys-119' (H2AK119ub1) (By similarity). Acts as a sensor of N(6 [...] (1514 aa) | ||||
Bax | Apoptosis regulator BAX; Accelerates programmed cell death by binding to, and antagonizing the apoptosis repressor BCL2 or its adenovirus homolog E1B 19k protein. Under stress conditions, undergoes a conformation change that causes translocation to the mitochondrion membrane, leading to the release of cytochrome c that then triggers apoptosis. Promotes activation of CASP3, and thereby apoptosis. BAX deficiency leads to lymphoid hyperplasia and male sterility, because of the cessation of sperm production; Belongs to the Bcl-2 family.
