Max | Protein max; Transcription regulator. Forms a sequence-specific DNA- binding protein complex with MYC or MAD which recognizes the core sequence 5'-CAC[GA]TG-3'. The MYC:MAX complex is a transcriptional activator, whereas the MAD:MAX complex is a repressor. CpG methylation of the recognition site greatly inhibits DNA binding, suggesting that DNA methylation may regulate the MYC:MAX complex in vivo. May repress transcription via the recruitment of a chromatin remodeling complex containing H3 'Lys-9' histone methyltransferase activity. Represses MYC transcriptional activity from E-box ele [...] (160 aa) | ||||
Tada2a | Transcriptional adapter 2-alpha; Component of the ATAC complex, a complex with histone acetyltransferase activity on histones H3 and H4 (By similarity). Required for the function of some acidic activation domains, which activate transcription from a distant site (By similarity). Binds double-stranded DNA. Binds dinucleosomes, probably at the linker region between neighboring nucleosomes. Plays a role in chromatin remodeling (By similarity). May promote TP53/p53 'Lys-321' acetylation, leading to reduced TP53 stability and transcriptional activity (By similarity). May also promote XRCC6 [...] (443 aa) |
