Max | Protein max; Transcription regulator. Forms a sequence-specific DNA- binding protein complex with MYC or MAD which recognizes the core sequence 5'-CAC[GA]TG-3'. The MYC:MAX complex is a transcriptional activator, whereas the MAD:MAX complex is a repressor. CpG methylation of the recognition site greatly inhibits DNA binding, suggesting that DNA methylation may regulate the MYC:MAX complex in vivo. May repress transcription via the recruitment of a chromatin remodeling complex containing H3 'Lys-9' histone methyltransferase activity. Represses MYC transcriptional activity from E-box ele [...] (160 aa) | ||||
Rint1 | RAD50-interacting protein 1; Involved in regulation of membrane traffic between the Golgi and the endoplasmic reticulum; the function is proposed to depend on its association in the NRZ complex which is believed to play a role in SNARE assembly at the ER. May play a role in cell cycle checkpoint control. Essential for telomere length control (By similarity). Belongs to the RINT1 family. (792 aa) |
