Max | Protein max; Transcription regulator. Forms a sequence-specific DNA- binding protein complex with MYC or MAD which recognizes the core sequence 5'-CAC[GA]TG-3'. The MYC:MAX complex is a transcriptional activator, whereas the MAD:MAX complex is a repressor. CpG methylation of the recognition site greatly inhibits DNA binding, suggesting that DNA methylation may regulate the MYC:MAX complex in vivo. May repress transcription via the recruitment of a chromatin remodeling complex containing H3 'Lys-9' histone methyltransferase activity. Represses MYC transcriptional activity from E-box ele [...] (160 aa) | ||||
Map4k1 | Mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase kinase 1; Serine/threonine-protein kinase, which may play a role in the response to environmental stress (By similarity). Appears to act upstream of the JUN N-terminal pathway. May play a role in hematopoietic lineage decisions and growth regulation. Able to autophosphorylate. Together with CLNK, it enhances CD3-triggered activation of T-cells and subsequent IL2 production. Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. STE Ser/Thr protein kinase family. STE20 subfamily.
