Max | Protein max; Transcription regulator. Forms a sequence-specific DNA- binding protein complex with MYC or MAD which recognizes the core sequence 5'-CAC[GA]TG-3'. The MYC:MAX complex is a transcriptional activator, whereas the MAD:MAX complex is a repressor. CpG methylation of the recognition site greatly inhibits DNA binding, suggesting that DNA methylation may regulate the MYC:MAX complex in vivo. May repress transcription via the recruitment of a chromatin remodeling complex containing H3 'Lys-9' histone methyltransferase activity. Represses MYC transcriptional activity from E-box ele [...] (160 aa) | ||||
Naca | Nascent polypeptide-associated complex subunit alpha, muscle-specific form; Cardiac- and muscle-specific transcription factor. May act to regulate the expression of genes involved in the development of myotubes. Plays a critical role in ventricular cardiomyocyte expansion and regulates postnatal skeletal muscle growth and regeneration. Involved in the organized assembly of thick and thin filaments of myofibril sarcomeres. (2187 aa) |
