Max | Protein max; Transcription regulator. Forms a sequence-specific DNA- binding protein complex with MYC or MAD which recognizes the core sequence 5'-CAC[GA]TG-3'. The MYC:MAX complex is a transcriptional activator, whereas the MAD:MAX complex is a repressor. CpG methylation of the recognition site greatly inhibits DNA binding, suggesting that DNA methylation may regulate the MYC:MAX complex in vivo. May repress transcription via the recruitment of a chromatin remodeling complex containing H3 'Lys-9' histone methyltransferase activity. Represses MYC transcriptional activity from E-box ele [...] (160 aa) | ||||
Hnrnpf | Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein F, N-terminally processed; Component of the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) complexes which provide the substrate for the processing events that pre-mRNAs undergo before becoming functional, translatable mRNAs in the cytoplasm. Plays a role in the regulation of alternative splicing events. Binds G-rich sequences in pre-mRNAs and keeps target RNA in an unfolded state (By similarity). (415 aa) |
