Zfp281 | Zinc finger protein 281; Transcription repressor that plays a role in regulation of embryonic stem cells (ESCs) differentiation. Required for ESCs differentiation and acts by mediating autorepression of NANOG in ESCs: binds to the NANOG promoter and promotes association of NANOG protein to its own promoter and recruits the NuRD complex, which deacetylates histones. Not required for establishement and maintenance of ESCs. Represses the transcription of a number of genes including GAST, ODC1 and VIM. Binds to the G-rich box in the enhancer region of these genes. Spen | Msx2-interacting protein; May serve as a nuclear matrix platform that organizes and integrates transcriptional responses. In osteoblasts, supports transcription activation: synergizes with RUNX2 to enhance FGFR2- mediated activation of the osteocalcin FGF-responsive element (OCFRE). Has also been shown to be an essential corepressor protein, which probably regulates different key pathways, such as the Notch pathway. Negative regulator of the Notch pathway via its interaction with RBPSUH, which prevents the association between NOTCH1 and RBPSUH, and therefore suppresses the transactivat [...] (3643 aa) |
