Zfp281 | Zinc finger protein 281; Transcription repressor that plays a role in regulation of embryonic stem cells (ESCs) differentiation. Required for ESCs differentiation and acts by mediating autorepression of NANOG in ESCs: binds to the NANOG promoter and promotes association of NANOG protein to its own promoter and recruits the NuRD complex, which deacetylates histones. Not required for establishement and maintenance of ESCs. Represses the transcription of a number of genes including GAST, ODC1 and VIM. Binds to the G-rich box in the enhancer region of these genes. Hif3a | Hypoxia-inducible factor 3-alpha; Acts as a transcriptional regulator in adaptive response to low oxygen tension. Acts as a regulator of hypoxia-inducible gene expression. Plays a role in the development of the cardiorespiratory system. [Isoform 2]: Attenuates the ability of transcription factor HIF1A, EPAS1 and the HIF1A-ARNT complex to bind to hypoxia-responsive elements (HRE) located within the enhancer/promoter of hypoxia- inducible target genes and hence inhibits HRE-driven transcriptional activation. Functions as an inhibitor of angiogenesis in hypoxic cells of the cornea. May ac [...] (664 aa) |
