Taf9b | Transcription initiation factor TFIID subunit 9B; Essential for cell viability. TAF9 and TAF9B are involved in transcriptional activation as well as repression of distinct but overlapping sets of genes. May have a role in gene regulation associated with apoptosis. TAFs are components of the transcription factor IID (TFIID) complex, the TBP-free TAFII complex (TFTC), the PCAF histone acetylase complex and the STAGA transcription coactivator-HAT complex. TFIID or TFTC are essential for the regulation of RNA polymerase II-mediated transcription (By similarity). (293 aa) | ||||
Nacad | NAC-alpha domain-containing protein 1; May prevent inappropriate targeting of non-secretory polypeptides to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). May bind to nascent polypeptide chains as they emerge from the ribosome and block their interaction with the signal recognition particle (SRP), which normally targets nascent secretory peptides to the ER. May also reduce the inherent affinity of ribosomes for protein translocation sites in the ER membrane (M sites) (By similarity); Belongs to the NAC-alpha family. (1504 aa) |
