Tbp | TATA binding protein (Tbp) encodes a basal transcription factor required at most RNA Pol I and Pol II-transcribed genes. Traditionally thought to be recruited only to TATA box containing promoters, recent work shows that promoters with very weak TATA box consensus sequences also recruit the product of Tbp as a part of the multisubunit TFIID basal transcription factor or via the SAGA histone acetyltransferase complex. E(bx) | Nucleosome-remodeling factor subunit NURF301; Histone-binding component of NURF (nucleosome remodeling factor), a complex which catalyzes ATP-dependent nucleosome sliding and facilitates transcription of chromatin. Specifically recognizes H3 tails trimethylated on 'Lys-4' (H3K4me3), which mark transcription start sites of virtually all active genes. Required for homeotic gene expression, proper larval blood cell development, normal male X chromosome morphology, ecdysteroid signaling and metamorphosis. Belongs to the BPTF family. (2761 aa) |
