Pc | Polycomb group protein Pc; Polycomb group (PcG) protein. PcG proteins act by forming multiprotein complexes, which are required to maintain the transcriptionally repressive state of homeotic genes throughout development. PcG proteins are not required to initiate repression, but to maintain it during later stages of development. Component of the PcG multiprotein PRC1 complex, a complex that acts via chromatin remodeling and modification of histones; it mediates monoubiquitination of histone H2A 'Lys-118', rendering chromatin heritably changed in its expressibility. Sas10 | Something about silencing 10 (Sas10) encodes a protein belonging to the SAS10 family. It might be a substrate of the RNA deaminase encoded by Adar, which shows an adenosine to inosine (A-to-I) deaminase activity in pre-mRNA transcripts. The noncoding strand of the adjacent gene, Rnp4F, reads through to form a duplex with Sas10 transcripts at their 3'-end to target both transcripts for promiscuous A-to-I editing and degradation.
