SIRT6 | NAD-dependent protein deacetylase sirtuin-6; NAD-dependent protein deacetylase. Has deacetylase activity towards histone H3K9Ac and H3K56Ac. Modulates acetylation of histone H3 in telomeric chromatin during the S-phase of the cell cycle. Deacetylates histone H3K9Ac at NF-kappa-B target promoters and may down-regulate the expression of a subset of NF-kappa-B target genes. Acts as a corepressor of the transcription factor HIF1A to control the expression of multiple glycolytic genes to regulate glucose homeostasis. Required for genomic stability. Regulates the production of TNF protein. H [...] (355 aa) | ||||
ALKBH7 | Alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase alkB homolog 7, mitochondrial; May function as protein hydroxylase; can catalyze auto- hydroxylation at Leu-110 (in vitro), but this activity may be due to the absence of the true substrate. Required to induce programmed necrosis in response to DNA damage caused by cytotoxic alkylating agents. Acts by triggering the collapse of mitochondrial membrane potential and loss of mitochondrial function that leads to energy depletion and cell death. ALKBH7-mediated necrosis is probably required to prevent the accumulation of cells with DNA damage. Does [...] (221 aa) |
