MAFK | Transcription factor MafK; Since they lack a putative transactivation domain, the small Mafs behave as transcriptional repressors when they dimerize among themselves. However, they act as transcriptional activators by dimerizing with other (usually larger) basic-zipper proteins, such as NFE2, NFE2L1/NRF1, NFE2L2/NRF2 and NFE2L3/NRF3, and recruiting them to specific DNA-binding sites. Small Maf proteins heterodimerize with Fos and may act as competitive repressors of the NF-E2 transcription factor ; Belongs to the bZIP family. Maf subfamily. (156 aa) | ||||
BTBD1 | BTB/POZ domain-containing protein 1; Probable substrate-specific adapter of an E3 ubiquitin- protein ligase complex which mediates the ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of target proteins. Seems to regulate expression levels and/or subnuclear distribution of TOP1, via an unknown mechanism (By similarity). May play a role in mesenchymal differentiation where it promotes myogenic differentiation and suppresses adipogenesis (By similarity). (482 aa) |
