BCL11B | B-cell lymphoma/leukemia 11B; Key regulator of both differentiation and survival of T- lymphocytes during thymocyte development in mammals. Essential in controlling the responsiveness of hematopoietic stem cells to chemotactic signals by modulating the expression of the receptors CCR7 and CCR9, which direct the movement of progenitor cells from the bone marrow to the thymus. Is a regulator of IL2 promoter and enhances IL2 expression in activated CD4(+) T-lymphocytes. Tumor-suppressor that represses transcription through direct, TFCOUP2-independent binding to a GC-rich response element [...] (894 aa) | ||||
MBTPS2 | Membrane-bound transcription factor site-2 protease; Involved in regulated intramembrane proteolysis (RIP) that is the cleavage of membrane-spanning regulatory proteins by proteases within the plane of the membrane. It cleaves sterol-regulatory element- binding proteins (SREBPs) within the first transmembrane segment, thereby releasing the N-terminal segment with a portion of the transmembrane segment attached. Mature N-terminal fragments shuttle to the nucleus and activate gene transcription. Involved in RIP-mediated regulation of bone formation. (519 aa) |
