MAX | Protein max; Transcription regulator. Forms a sequence-specific DNA- binding protein complex with MYC or MAD which recognizes the core sequence 5'-CAC[GA]TG-3'. The MYC:MAX complex is a transcriptional activator, whereas the MAD:MAX complex is a repressor. May repress transcription via the recruitment of a chromatin remodeling complex containing H3 'Lys-9' histone methyltransferase activity. Represses MYC transcriptional activity from E-box elements. NEK8 | Serine/threonine-protein kinase Nek8; Required for renal tubular integrity. May regulate local cytoskeletal structure in kidney tubule epithelial cells. May regulate ciliary biogenesis through targeting of proteins to the cilia (By similarity). Plays a role in organogenesis and is involved in the regulation of the Hippo signaling pathway; Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. NEK Ser/Thr protein kinase family. NIMA subfamily. (692 aa) |
