NELFE | Negative elongation factor E; Essential component of the NELF complex, a complex that negatively regulates the elongation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. The NELF complex, which acts via an association with the DSIF complex and causes transcriptional pausing, is counteracted by the P-TEFb kinase complex. Provides the strongest RNA binding activity of the NELF complex and may initially recruit the NELF complex to RNA. Belongs to the RRM NELF-E family. (380 aa) | ||||
AREL1 | Apoptosis-resistant E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 1; E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase which accepts ubiquitin from an E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme in the form of a thioester and then directly transfers the ubiquitin to targeted substrates. Inhibits apoptosis by ubiquitinating and targeting for degradation a number of proapoptotic proteins including DIABLO/SMAC, HTRA2 and SEPT4/ARTS which are released from the mitochondrion into the cytosol following apoptotic stimulation.
