GATA1 | Erythroid transcription factor; Transcriptional activator or repressor which probably serves as a general switch factor for erythroid development. It binds to DNA sites with the consensus sequence 5'-[AT]GATA[AG]-3' within regulatory regions of globin genes and of other genes expressed in erythroid cells. Activates the transcription of genes involved in erythroid differentiation of K562 erythroleukemia cells, including HBB, HBG1/2, ALAS2 and HMBS. (413 aa) | ||||
XKR8 | XK-related protein 8, processed form; Promotes phosphatidylserine exposure on apoptotic cell surface, possibly by mediating phospholipid scrambling. Phosphatidylserine is a specific marker only present at the surface of apoptotic cells and acts as a specific signal for engulfment. Has no effect on calcium-induced exposure of phosphatidylserine. Activated upon caspase cleavage, suggesting that it does not act prior the onset of apoptosis; Belongs to the XK family. (395 aa) |
