FOXA2 | Hepatocyte nuclear factor 3-beta; Transcription factor that is involved in embryonic development, establishment of tissue-specific gene expression and regulation of gene expression in differentiated tissues. Is thought to act as a 'pioneer' factor opening the compacted chromatin for other proteins through interactions with nucleosomal core histones and thereby replacing linker histones at target enhancer and/or promoter sites. Binds DNA with the consensus sequence 5'- [AC]A[AT]T[AG]TT[GT][AG][CT]T[CT]-3' (By similarity). In embryonic development is required for notochord formation. Inv [...] (463 aa) | ||||
OR51E2 | Olfactory receptor 51E2; Olfactory receptor. Activated by the odorant, beta-ionone, a synthetic terpenoid. The activity of this receptor is propably mediated by G-proteins leading to the elevation of intracellular Ca(2+), cAMP and activation of the protein kinases PKA and MAPK3/MAPK1. Stimulation of OR51E2 by beta-ionone affects melanocyte proliferation, differentiation, and melanogenesis. Activation of OR51E2 by beta-ionone increases proliferation and migration of primary retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells. Activated also by the short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) acetate and propionat [...] (320 aa) |
