"EXO5" - exonuclease 5 in Homo sapiens
Nodes:
Network nodes represent proteins
splice isoforms or post-translational modifications are collapsed, i.e. each node represents all the proteins produced by a single, protein-coding gene locus.
Node Size
small protein node
small nodes:
protein of unknown 3D structure
large protein node
large nodes:
some 3D structure is known or predicted
Node Color
colored protein node
colored nodes:
query proteins and first shell of interactors
non-colored protein node
white nodes:
second shell of interactors
Edges:
Edges represent protein-protein associations
associations are meant to be specific and meaningful, i.e. proteins jointly contribute to a shared function; this does not necessarily mean they are physically binding each other.
Known Interactions
database edge
from curated databases
experiment edge
experimentally determined
Predicted Interactions
neighborhood edge
gene neighborhood
fusion edge
gene fusions
cooccurrence edge
gene co-occurrence
Others
textmining edge
textmining
coexpression edge
co-expression
homology edge
protein homology

EXO5exonuclease 5; Single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) bidirectional exonuclease involved in DNA repair. Probably involved in DNA repair following ultraviolet (UV) irradiation and interstrand cross-links (ICLs) damage. Has both 5’-3’ and 3’-5’ exonuclease activities with a strong preference for 5’-ends. Acts as a sliding exonuclease that loads at ssDNA ends and then slides along the ssDNA prior to cutting; however the sliding and the 3’-5’ exonuclease activities are abolished upon binding to the replication protein A (RPA) complex that enforces 5’-directionality activity (373 aa)
Predicted Functional Partners:
RAD51
RAD51 homolog (S. cerevisiae); Participates in a common DNA damage response pathway associated with the activation of homologous recombination and double-strand break repair. Binds to single and double stranded DNA and exhibits DNA-dependent ATPase activity. Underwinds duplex DNA and forms helical nucleoprotein filaments. Plays a role in regulating mitochondrial DNA copy number under conditions of oxidative stress in the presence of RAD51C and XRCC3 (340 aa)

NARG2
NMDA receptor regulated 2 (982 aa)
            score_image   0.652
EXO1
exonuclease 1; 5’->3’ double-stranded DNA exonuclease which may also possess a cryptic 3’->5’ double-stranded DNA exonuclease activity. Functions in DNA mismatch repair (MMR) to excise mismatch- containing DNA tracts directed by strand breaks located either 5’ or 3’ to the mismatch. Also exhibits endonuclease activity against 5’-overhanging flap structures similar to those generated by displacement synthesis when DNA polymerase encounters the 5’-end of a downstream Okazaki fragment. Required for somatic hypermutation (SHM) and class switch recombination (CSR) of immunoglobulin genes. E [...] (846 aa)

ASIC5
acid-sensing (proton-gated) ion channel family member 5; Cation channel that gives rise to very low constitutive currents in the absence of activation. The activated channel exhibits selectivity for sodium, and is inhibited by amiloride (505 aa)
            score_image   0.592
RPA1
replication protein A1, 70kDa; Plays an essential role in several cellular processes in DNA metabolism including replication, recombination and DNA repair. Binds and subsequently stabilizes single-stranded DNA intermediates and thus prevents complementary DNA from reannealing (616 aa)
      score_image score_image   score_image   0.590
MRPS22
mitochondrial ribosomal protein S22 (360 aa)
            score_image   0.535
SEPT3
septin 3; Filament-forming cytoskeletal GTPase (By similarity). May play a role in cytokinesis (Potential) (358 aa)
            score_image   0.506
SEPT9
septin 9 (586 aa)
            score_image   0.495
GLS
glutaminase; Catalyzes the first reaction in the primary pathway for the renal catabolism of glutamine. Plays a role in maintaining acid-base homeostasis. Regulates the levels of the neurotransmitter glutamate in the brain. Isoform 2 lacks catalytic activity (669 aa)
            score_image   0.472
NAGS
N-acetylglutamate synthase; Plays a role in the regulation of ureagenesis by producing variable amounts of N-acetylglutamate (NAG), thus modulating carbamoylphosphate synthase I (CPSI) activity (534 aa)
            score_image   0.407
