STRINGSTRING
lepA protein (Kordia algicida) - STRING interaction network
"lepA" - Ribosomal back-translocase LepA in Kordia algicida
Nodes:
Network nodes represent proteins
splice isoforms or post-translational modifications are collapsed, i.e. each node represents all the proteins produced by a single, protein-coding gene locus.
Node Color
colored nodes:
query proteins and first shell of interactors
white nodes:
second shell of interactors
Node Content
empty nodes:
proteins of unknown 3D structure
filled nodes:
some 3D structure is known or predicted
Edges:
Edges represent protein-protein associations
associations are meant to be specific and meaningful, i.e. proteins jointly contribute to a shared function; this does not necessarily mean they are physically binding each other.
Known Interactions
from curated databases
experimentally determined
Predicted Interactions
gene neighborhood
gene fusions
gene co-occurrence
Others
textmining
co-expression
protein homology

lepARibosomal back-translocase LepA ; Required for accurate and efficient protein synthesis under certain stress conditions. May act as a fidelity factor of the translation reaction, by catalyzing a one-codon backward translocation of tRNAs on improperly translocated ribosomes. Back- translocation proceeds from a post-translocation (POST) complex to a pre-translocation (PRE) complex, thus giving elongation factor G a second chance to translocate the tRNAs correctly. Binds to ribosomes in a GTP-dependent manner (598 aa)
Predicted Functional Partners:
prfA
Peptide chain release factor 1 ; Peptide chain release factor 1 directs the termination of translation in response to the peptide chain termination codons UAG and UAA (357 aa)

  0.841
obg
GTP-binding protein Obg ; An essential GTPase which binds GTP, GDP and possibly (p)ppGpp with moderate affinity, with high nucleotide exchange rates and a fairly low GTP hydrolysis rate. Plays a role in control of the cell cycle, stress response, ribosome biogenesis and in those bacteria that undergo differentiation, in morphogenesis control (332 aa)

  0.738
KAOT1_18242
Aspartate--tRNA ligase (584 aa)

  0.734
KAOT1_16008
Phenylalanyl-tRNA synthetase alpha subunit (339 aa)

  0.732
rplM
50S ribosomal protein L13 ; This protein is one of the early assembly proteins of the 50S ribosomal subunit, although it is not seen to bind rRNA by itself. It is important during the early stages of 50S assembly (151 aa)

  0.721
KAOT1_17163
Putative peptide chain release factor (198 aa)

  0.697
KAOT1_16508
tRNA-dihydrouridine synthase ; Catalyzes the synthesis of 5,6-dihydrouridine (D), a modified base found in the D-loop of most tRNAs, via the reduction of the C5-C6 double bond in target uridines (330 aa)

        0.691
rplE
50S ribosomal protein L5 ; This is 1 of the proteins that binds and probably mediates the attachment of the 5S RNA into the large ribosomal subunit, where it forms part of the central protuberance. In the 70S ribosome it contacts protein S13 of the 30S subunit (bridge B1b), connecting the 2 subunits; this bridge is implicated in subunit movement. Contacts the P site tRNA; the 5S rRNA and some of its associated proteins might help stabilize positioning of ribosome-bound tRNAs (183 aa)

  0.678
gidA
Glucose-inhibited division protein A ; NAD-binding protein involved in the addition of a carboxymethylaminomethyl (cmnm) group at the wobble position (U34) of certain tRNAs, forming tRNA-cmnm(5)s(2)U34 (623 aa)

  0.672
KAOT1_02647
Peptide chain release factor 2 ; Peptide chain release factor 2 directs the termination of translation in response to the peptide chain termination codons UGA and UAA (316 aa)

  0.668
