STRINGSTRING
STRING protein interaction network
Nodes:
Network nodes represent proteins
splice isoforms or post-translational modifications are collapsed, i.e. each node represents all the proteins produced by a single, protein-coding gene locus.
Node Color
colored nodes:
query proteins and first shell of interactors
white nodes:
second shell of interactors
Node Content
empty nodes:
proteins of unknown 3D structure
filled nodes:
a 3D structure is known or predicted
Edges:
Edges represent protein-protein associations
associations are meant to be specific and meaningful, i.e. proteins jointly contribute to a shared function; this does not necessarily mean they are physically binding to each other.
Known Interactions
from curated databases
experimentally determined
Predicted Interactions
gene neighborhood
gene fusions
gene co-occurrence
Others
textmining
co-expression
protein homology

sepa-1
Protein sepa-1; Adapter protein that connects P-granules in somatic cells with the autophagic machinery. Association with other adapters such as epg-2 and P-granule components such as pgl-3 is required for the accumulation and degradation of P-granules by autophagy in somatic cells. This ensures exclusive localization of the P-granules in germ cells.

 0.681
epg-4
Ectopic P granules protein 4; Involved in autophagy. Thought to act in autophagasome and omegasome formation.

 0.671
epg-2
Ectopic P granules protein 2; Involved in autophagy. Thought to act as an adapter protein that brings PGL granules to autophagic structures containing lgg-1. Association with other adapters such as sepa-1 is required for the accumulation and degradation of germ cell specific P-granules by autophagy in somatic cells. This ensures exclusive localization of the P-granules in germ cells. May also play a role in the removal of sepa-1 from somatic cells.
