STRINGSTRING
STRING protein interaction network
Nodes:
Network nodes represent proteins
splice isoforms or post-translational modifications are collapsed, i.e. each node represents all the proteins produced by a single, protein-coding gene locus.
Node Color
colored nodes:
query proteins and first shell of interactors
white nodes:
second shell of interactors
Node Content
empty nodes:
proteins of unknown 3D structure
filled nodes:
a 3D structure is known or predicted
Edges:
Edges represent protein-protein associations
associations are meant to be specific and meaningful, i.e. proteins jointly contribute to a shared function; this does not necessarily mean they are physically binding to each other.
Known Interactions
from curated databases
experimentally determined
Predicted Interactions
gene neighborhood
gene fusions
gene co-occurrence
Others
textmining
co-expression
protein homology

SynSynapsin-1; Synapsin (Syn) encodes a phosphoprotein associated with synaptic vesicles. It interacts with the endocytic scaffolding protein encoded by Dap160. Phosphorylation of synapsin at serine 6 is required for associative short-term learning/memory and short-term olfactory habituation. It is important for outgrowth of synaptic boutons at the larval neuromuscular junction. (1041 aa)
Predicted Functional Partners:
Syt1
Synaptotagmin 1; May have a regulatory role in the membrane interactions during trafficking of synaptic vesicles at the active zone of the synapse. It binds acidic phospholipids with a specificity that requires the presence of both an acidic head group and a diacyl backbone.

 0.985
Rab3
Ras-related protein Rab-3; Rab3 (Rab3) encodes a member of a large family of Ras-like small GTPases. Localized primarily at the synapse, Rab3 product is involved in mechanisms that control synaptic development and function, including the regulation of active zone protein composition at the neuromuscular junction.

 0.948
Snap25
Synaptosomal-associated protein 25kDa (Snap25) encodes a synaptic target SNARE protein and a component of SNARE protein complexes known to function in neurotransmitter release. It functions in synaptic transmission in larvae and is essential in adults; Belongs to the SNAP-25 family.

 0.934
Syb
Synaptobrevin; Unknown, but synaptobrevins are presumed to be involved in targeting and fusion of synaptic vesicles with the presynaptic membrane as well as in neurotransmitter release.

 0.909
brp
Bruchpilot, isoform J; Bruchpilot (brp) encodes a cytoskeletal protein critical for structural integrity of electron-dense projection (T-bar) at pre-active zones. It contributes to Ca[2+] channel clustering, size regulation of the synaptic vesicle readily releaseable pool and anesthesia-resistant memory formation.

 0.898
Liprin-alpha
Liprin-alpha, isoform E; Liprin-alpha (Liprin-alpha) encodes a scaffolding protein that interacts with the receptor phosphatase Lar. It is involved in synapse morphogenesis and axon guidance.

 0.885
Rim
Rab3 interacting molecule (Rim) encodes a scaffolding protein at the synaptic active zone, with important roles in promoting neurotransmitter release.

 0.884
Syx1A
Syntaxin-1A; Plays a critical role in several secretory processes, including cuticle secretion and neurotransmitter release, and probably assists in neuronal membrane maturation or the final stages of neuronal differentiation. Essential for embryonic viability and development. Required for coordinated peristaltic contractions. Recruited by Unc-13-4B to secretory lysosome-related organelles (SLs) that are essential for tracheal lumen fusion between previously separate tracheal branches (anastomosis). Possibly promotes the intracellular fusion of the extending tracheal stalk cell lumens [...]

 0.845
unc-13
Unc-13, isoform E; Unc-13 (unc-13) encodes a protein involved in synaptic vesicle exocytosis.

 0.841
cin
Molybdenum cofactor synthesis protein cinnamon; Catalyzes two steps in the biosynthesis of the molybdenum cofactor. In the first step, molybdopterin is adenylated. Subsequently, molybdate is inserted into adenylated molybdopterin and AMP is released; In the N-terminal section; belongs to the MoaB/Mog family.
