STRINGSTRING
STRING protein interaction network
Nodes:
Network nodes represent proteins
splice isoforms or post-translational modifications are collapsed, i.e. each node represents all the proteins produced by a single, protein-coding gene locus.
Node Color
colored nodes:
query proteins and first shell of interactors
white nodes:
second shell of interactors
Node Content
empty nodes:
proteins of unknown 3D structure
filled nodes:
a 3D structure is known or predicted
Edges:
Edges represent protein-protein associations
associations are meant to be specific and meaningful, i.e. proteins jointly contribute to a shared function; this does not necessarily mean they are physically binding to each other.
Known Interactions
from curated databases
experimentally determined
Predicted Interactions
gene neighborhood
gene fusions
gene co-occurrence
Others
textmining
co-expression
protein homology

ftsZCell division protein FtsZ:Tubulin/FtsZ family; Essential cell division protein that forms a contractile ring structure (Z ring) at the future cell division site. The regulation of the ring assembly controls the timing and the location of cell division. One of the functions of the FtsZ ring is to recruit other cell division proteins to the septum to produce a new cell wall between the dividing cells. Binds GTP and shows GTPase activity. (374 aa)
Predicted Functional Partners:
sepF
Conserved hypothetical protein; Cell division protein that is part of the divisome complex and is recruited early to the Z-ring. Probably stimulates Z-ring formation, perhaps through the cross-linking of FtsZ protofilaments. Its function overlaps with FtsA.

 0.922
minC
Possible septum site-determining protein; Cell division inhibitor that blocks the formation of polar Z ring septums. Rapidly oscillates between the poles of the cell to destabilize FtsZ filaments that have formed before they mature into polar Z rings. Prevents FtsZ polymerization.

 0.842
ftsQ
Cell division septal protein; Essential cell division protein.

 0.831
murG
Undecaprenyl-PP-MurNAc-pentapeptide-UDPGlcNAc GlcNAc transferase; Cell wall formation. Catalyzes the transfer of a GlcNAc subunit on undecaprenyl-pyrophosphoryl-MurNAc-pentapeptide (lipid intermediate I) to form undecaprenyl-pyrophosphoryl-MurNAc- (pentapeptide)GlcNAc (lipid intermediate II); Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 28 family. MurG subfamily.

 0.773
ddlA
D-alanine--D-alanine ligase; Cell wall formation; Belongs to the D-alanine--D-alanine ligase family.

 0.739
atpA
ATP synthase F1, alpha subunit; Produces ATP from ADP in the presence of a proton gradient across the membrane. The alpha chain is a regulatory subunit. Belongs to the ATPase alpha/beta chains family.

 0.696
pheT
COG72 Phenylalanyl-tRNA synthetase beta subunit [Translation, ribosomal structure and biogenesis]; Belongs to the phenylalanyl-tRNA synthetase beta subunit family. Type 1 subfamily.

 0.667
gatB
Glutamyl-tRNA (Gln) amidotransferase subunit B; Allows the formation of correctly charged Asn-tRNA(Asn) or Gln-tRNA(Gln) through the transamidation of misacylated Asp-tRNA(Asn) or Glu-tRNA(Gln) in organisms which lack either or both of asparaginyl- tRNA or glutaminyl-tRNA synthetases. The reaction takes place in the presence of glutamine and ATP through an activated phospho-Asp- tRNA(Asn) or phospho-Glu-tRNA(Gln); Belongs to the GatB/GatE family. GatB subfamily.

COG1192 ATPases involved in chromosome partitioning [Cell division and chromosome partitioning].

 0.627
ABX09508.1
COG772 Bacterial cell division membrane protein [Cell division and chromosome partitioning]; Belongs to the SEDS family.
