Nodes:
Network nodes represent proteins
splice isoforms or post-translational modifications are collapsed, i.e. each node represents all the proteins produced by a single, protein-coding gene locus.
Node Color
colored nodes:
query proteins and first shell of interactors
white nodes:
second shell of interactors
Node Content
empty nodes:
proteins of unknown 3D structure
filled nodes:
a 3D structure is known or predicted
Edges:
Edges represent protein-protein associations
associations are meant to be specific and meaningful, i.e. proteins jointly contribute to a shared function; this does not necessarily mean they are physically binding to each other.
Known Interactions
from curated databases
experimentally determined
Predicted Interactions
gene neighborhood
gene fusions
gene co-occurrence
Others
textmining
co-expression
protein homology

lexATranscriptional repressor of SOS regulon; Represses a number of genes involved in the response to DNA damage (SOS response), including recA and lexA. In the presence of single-stranded DNA, RecA interacts with LexA causing an autocatalytic cleavage which disrupts the DNA-binding part of LexA, leading to derepression of the SOS regulon and eventually DNA repair. (207 aa)
Predicted Functional Partners:
GK1295
Hypothetical protein; Similar to N-terminal region of recombinase A (recA 345 aa) of Bacillus megaterium (GK1295 divided by group II intron (GK1296) is possibly continued to 1,316,291 bp).

 0.984
GK2389
DNA repair protein (recombination protein N); May be involved in recombinational repair of damaged DNA.

 0.735
yneA
Hypothetical conserved protein; Inhibits cell division during the SOS response. Affects a later stage of the cell division protein assembly, after the assembly of the Z ring, by probably suppressing recruitment of FtsL and/or DivIC to the division machinery; Belongs to the YneA family.

 0.719
GK2678
Hypothetical protein.

 0.680
GK1330
Resolvase.

 0.675
codY
Transcription pleiotropic repressor; DNA-binding protein that represses the expression of many genes that are induced as cells make the transition from rapid exponential growth to stationary phase. It is a GTP-binding protein that senses the intracellular GTP concentration as an indicator of nutritional limitations. At low GTP concentration it no longer binds GTP and stop to act as a transcriptional repressor; Belongs to the CodY family.

 0.670
birA
Biotin [acetyl-CoA carboxylase] synthetase; Acts both as a biotin--[acetyl-CoA-carboxylase] ligase and a repressor; Belongs to the biotin--protein ligase family.

 0.632
dapF
Diaminopimelate epimerase; Catalyzes the stereoinversion of LL-2,6-diaminoheptanedioate (L,L-DAP) to meso-diaminoheptanedioate (meso-DAP), a precursor of L- lysine and an essential component of the bacterial peptidoglycan.

 0.611
dinG
ATP-dependent DNA helicase; 3'-5' exonuclease.

 0.610
clpX
ATP-dependent Clp protease ATP-binding subunit (class III heat-shock protein); ATP-dependent specificity component of the Clp protease. It directs the protease to specific substrates. Can perform chaperone functions in the absence of ClpP.
