STRINGSTRING
STRING protein interaction network
Nodes:
Network nodes represent proteins
splice isoforms or post-translational modifications are collapsed, i.e. each node represents all the proteins produced by a single, protein-coding gene locus.
Node Color
colored nodes:
query proteins and first shell of interactors
white nodes:
second shell of interactors
Node Content
empty nodes:
proteins of unknown 3D structure
filled nodes:
a 3D structure is known or predicted
Edges:
Edges represent protein-protein associations
associations are meant to be specific and meaningful, i.e. proteins jointly contribute to a shared function; this does not necessarily mean they are physically binding to each other.
Known Interactions
from curated databases
experimentally determined
Predicted Interactions
gene neighborhood
gene fusions
gene co-occurrence
Others
textmining
co-expression
protein homology

wapACell wall-associated protein precursor; Toxic component of a toxin-immunity protein module, which functions as a cellular contact-dependent growth inhibition (CDI) system. A site-specific general tRNA nuclease, the C-terminus (residues 2201-2334) removes 2 or 4 nucleotides from the 3' end of at least 4 tRNAs (upon expression in E.coli), possibly endonucleolytically. The nuclease activity is neutralized by expression of the cognate immunity protein WapI from the same strain, but not its homolog from 2 other B.subtilis strains. The C-terminus cannot be expressed on its own in E.coli, how [...] (2334 aa)
Predicted Functional Partners:
yxxG
Hypothetical protein; Immunity protein component of a toxin-immunity protein module, which functions as a cellular contact-dependent growth inhibition (CDI) system. Neutralizes the tRNase activity of cognate toxin WapA upon expression in E.coli. Does not inhibit WapA from other strains of B.subtilis. The WapA C-terminus cannot be expressed on its own in E.coli, however it can be cloned in the presence of its cognate immunity protein gene. Cell contact is necessary for growth inhibition.

wprA
Cell wall-associated protease; CWBP52 is a serine-type protease that could be involved in proteoglycan peptide bridges; Belongs to the peptidase S8 family.

yxiF
Putative phage reverse transcriptase or polymerase; Evidence 3: Function proposed based on presence of conserved amino acid motif, structural feature or limited homology; Product type pe: putative enzyme.

    0.812
yxzC
Putative nucleic acid binding protein; Evidence 3: Function proposed based on presence of conserved amino acid motif, structural feature or limited homology; Product type pf: putative factor.

    0.804
yxiM
Putative esterase (lipoprotein); Evidence 3: Function proposed based on presence of conserved amino acid motif, structural feature or limited homology; putative enzyme; Belongs to the 'GDSL' lipolytic enzyme family.

 0.800
yxiH
Hypothetical protein; Evidence 5: No homology to any previously reported sequences.

    0.760
yxiG
Conserved hypothetical protein; Evidence 4: Homologs of previously reported genes of unknown function.

    0.722
rttL
Phage toxin ribonuclease; Toxic component of a type II toxin-antitoxin (TA) system. The C-terminus (residues 449-600) has RNase activity, and inhibits growth upon expression in E.coli. In vitro RNase activity and in vivo growth inhibition are neutralized by cognate antitoxin YobK, but not by antitoxins specific to other toxins with the LXG domain.

yxzG
Putative nucleic acid binding protein; Evidence 3: Function proposed based on presence of conserved amino acid motif, structural feature or limited homology; Product type pf: putative factor.

    0.691
yvrH
Two-component response regulator YvrH involved in cell wall processes [YvrG]; Member of the two-component regulatory system YvrG/YvrH that positively regulates 7 transcriptional units (wprA, wapA-yxxG, dltABCDE, sunA, sunT-bdbA-yolJ-bdbB, sigO-rsoA, and sigX-rsiX), and negatively regulates the lytABC operon.
