STRINGSTRING
STRING protein interaction network
Nodes:
Network nodes represent proteins
splice isoforms or post-translational modifications are collapsed, i.e. each node represents all the proteins produced by a single, protein-coding gene locus.
Node Color
colored nodes:
query proteins and first shell of interactors
white nodes:
second shell of interactors
Node Content
empty nodes:
proteins of unknown 3D structure
filled nodes:
a 3D structure is known or predicted
Edges:
Edges represent protein-protein associations
associations are meant to be specific and meaningful, i.e. proteins jointly contribute to a shared function; this does not necessarily mean they are physically binding to each other.
Known Interactions
from curated databases
experimentally determined
Predicted Interactions
gene neighborhood
gene fusions
gene co-occurrence
Others
textmining
co-expression
protein homology

rapZRNase adapter protein RapZ; Modulates the synthesis of GlmS, by affecting the processing and stability of the regulatory small RNA GlmZ. When glucosamine-6- phosphate (GlcN6P) concentrations are high in the cell, RapZ binds GlmZ and targets it to cleavage by RNase E. Consequently, GlmZ is inactivated and unable to activate GlmS synthesis. Under low GlcN6P concentrations, RapZ is sequestered and inactivated by an other regulatory small RNA, GlmY, preventing GlmZ degradation and leading to synthesis of GlmS; Belongs to the RapZ-like family. RapZ subfamily. (283 aa)
Predicted Functional Partners:
ptsN
Nitrogen regulatory IIA protein (enzyme IIA-NTR) (phosphotransferase enzyme II, A component).

 0.873
ptsO
Phosphocarrier protein NPr (nitrogen related HPr).

 0.857
plu1498
Putative gluconeogenesis factor; Required for morphogenesis under gluconeogenic growth conditions; Belongs to the gluconeogenesis factor family.

 0.823
plu4042
Unnamed protein product; Highly similar to probable sigma(54) modulation protein YhbH of Escherichia coli.

 0.726
rne
Ribonuclease E (RNase E); Endoribonuclease that plays a central role in RNA processing and decay. Required for the maturation of 5S and 16S rRNAs and the majority of tRNAs. Also involved in the degradation of most mRNAs. Belongs to the RNase E/G family. RNase E subfamily.

 0.702
cafA
Ribonuclease G (RNase G) (cytoplasmic axial filament protein).

 0.659
sgcA
Putative phosphotransferase enzyme II, A component SgcA.

 0.597
mrsA
Phosphoglucomutase protein MrsA; Catalyzes the conversion of glucosamine-6-phosphate to glucosamine-1-phosphate; Belongs to the phosphohexose mutase family.

 0.573
rpoN
RNA polymerase sigma-54 factor; Sigma factors are initiation factors that promote the attachment of RNA polymerase to specific initiation sites and are then released.

 0.534
lptA
Lipopolysaccharide export system protein LptA; Involved in the assembly of lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Required for the translocation of LPS from the inner membrane to the outer membrane. May form a bridge between the inner membrane and the outer membrane, via interactions with LptC and LptD, thereby facilitating LPS transfer across the periplasm.
