STRINGSTRING
STRING protein interaction network
Nodes:
Network nodes represent proteins
splice isoforms or post-translational modifications are collapsed, i.e. each node represents all the proteins produced by a single, protein-coding gene locus.
Node Color
colored nodes:
query proteins and first shell of interactors
white nodes:
second shell of interactors
Node Content
empty nodes:
proteins of unknown 3D structure
filled nodes:
a 3D structure is known or predicted
Edges:
Edges represent protein-protein associations
associations are meant to be specific and meaningful, i.e. proteins jointly contribute to a shared function; this does not necessarily mean they are physically binding to each other.
Known Interactions
from curated databases
experimentally determined
Predicted Interactions
gene neighborhood
gene fusions
gene co-occurrence
Others
textmining
co-expression
protein homology

mbaAc-di-GMP phosphodiesterase A-related protein; Plays an essential role in the maintenance and the formation of the three-dimensional structure of the biofilms at the later stages of their development. Absence of mbaA promotes the accumulation of larger amount of biomass on the surfaces at later stage of development, results in the overproduction of an extracellular polymeric substance that accumulates in the matrix of biofilms. This yields biofilms lacking the typical structure consisting of pillars of cells separated by fluid filled channels. (791 aa)
Predicted Functional Partners:
VC_0072
Sensory box/GGDEF family protein; Similar to PID:1651932; identified by sequence similarity; putative.

0.955
nspS
Spermidine/putrescine ABC transporter, periplasmic spermidine/putrescine-binding protein, putative; Acts as a sensor of norspermidine and enhances biofilm formation. When complexed to norspermidine, could interact with the periplasmic portion of MbaA to regulate its enzymatic activity.

 0.948
VC_A1083
Conserved hypothetical protein; Identified by Glimmer2; putative.

 0.944
VC_2750
GGDEF family protein; Similar to PID:1653584; identified by sequence similarity; putative.

0.921
VC_1349
Sensory box sensor histidine kinase/response regulator; Similar to PID:1653075; identified by sequence similarity; putative.

 0.911
VC_2369
Sensor histidine kinase FexB; Similar to SP:P22763 GB:X53315 PID:40951 PID:606149 GB:U00096; identified by sequence similarity; putative.

 0.911
VC_A0785
GGDEF family protein; Similar to PID:1651932; identified by sequence similarity; putative.

0.880
VC_0303
Sensor histidine kinase; Similar to GP:2808665; identified by sequence similarity; putative.

 0.879
VC_0702
Conserved hypothetical protein; Phosphatase that hydrolyzes non-canonical purine nucleotides such as XTP and ITP to their respective diphosphate derivatives. Probably excludes non-canonical purines from DNA/RNA precursor pool, thus preventing their incorporation into DNA/RNA and avoiding chromosomal lesions.

 0.872
VC_A0960
GGDEF family protein; Similar to PID:1239987 SP:P54595 PID:1336656 GB:AL009126; identified by sequence similarity; putative.
