STRINGSTRING
STRING protein interaction network
Nodes:
Network nodes represent proteins
splice isoforms or post-translational modifications are collapsed, i.e. each node represents all the proteins produced by a single, protein-coding gene locus.
Node Color
colored nodes:
query proteins and first shell of interactors
white nodes:
second shell of interactors
Node Content
empty nodes:
proteins of unknown 3D structure
filled nodes:
a 3D structure is known or predicted
Edges:
Edges represent protein-protein associations
associations are meant to be specific and meaningful, i.e. proteins jointly contribute to a shared function; this does not necessarily mean they are physically binding to each other.
Known Interactions
from curated databases
experimentally determined
Predicted Interactions
gene neighborhood
gene fusions
gene co-occurrence
Others
textmining
co-expression
protein homology

ftsZCell-division initiation protein; Essential cell division protein that forms a contractile ring structure (Z ring) at the future cell division site. The regulation of the ring assembly controls the timing and the location of cell division. One of the functions of the FtsZ ring is to recruit other cell division proteins to the septum to produce a new cell wall between the dividing cells. Binds GTP and shows GTPase activity. (377 aa)
Predicted Functional Partners:
ftsA
Cell-division protein; Cell division protein that is involved in the assembly of the Z ring. May serve as a membrane anchor for the Z ring. Belongs to the FtsA/MreB family.

 0.999
ylmF
Divisiome protein YlmF; Cell division protein that is part of the divisome complex and is recruited early to the Z-ring. Probably stimulates Z-ring formation, perhaps through the cross-linking of FtsZ protofilaments. Its function overlaps with FtsA.

 0.967
minC
MinC; Cell division inhibitor that blocks the formation of polar Z ring septums. Rapidly oscillates between the poles of the cell to destabilize FtsZ filaments that have formed before they mature into polar Z rings. Prevents FtsZ polymerization; Belongs to the MinC family.

 0.942
zapA
ZapA; Activator of cell division through the inhibition of FtsZ GTPase activity, therefore promoting FtsZ assembly into bundles of protofilaments necessary for the formation of the division Z ring. It is recruited early at mid-cell but it is not essential for cell division.

 0.884
mreB
Cell-shape determining protein.

 0.849
ugtP
Putative Glycosyl Tranferase Family 28; Processive glucosyltransferase involved in the biosynthesis of both the bilayer- and non-bilayer-forming membrane glucolipids. Is able to successively transfer up to three glucosyl residues to diacylglycerol (DAG), thereby catalyzing the formation of beta- monoglucosyl-DAG (3-O-(beta-D-glucopyranosyl)-1,2-diacyl-sn-glycerol), beta-diglucosyl-DAG (3-O-(beta-D-glucopyranosyl-beta-(1->6)-D- glucopyranosyl)-1,2-diacyl-sn-glycerol) and beta-triglucosyl-DAG (3-O- (beta-D-glucopyranosyl-beta-(1->6)-D-glucopyranosyl-beta-(1->6)-D- glucopyranosyl)-1,2-dia [...]

BL02920
Hypothetical protein.

 0.838
divIB
Cell-division initiation protein; Cell division protein that may be involved in stabilizing or promoting the assembly of the division complex; Belongs to the FtsQ/DivIB family. DivIB subfamily.

 0.828
murG
Glycosyl transferase Family 28; Cell wall formation. Catalyzes the transfer of a GlcNAc subunit on undecaprenyl-pyrophosphoryl-MurNAc-pentapeptide (lipid intermediate I) to form undecaprenyl-pyrophosphoryl-MurNAc- (pentapeptide)GlcNAc (lipid intermediate II); Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 28 family. MurG subfamily.

 0.819
ezrA
EzrA; Negative regulator of FtsZ ring formation; modulates the frequency and position of FtsZ ring formation. Inhibits FtsZ ring formation at polar sites. Interacts either with FtsZ or with one of its binding partners to promote depolymerization; Belongs to the EzrA family.
