STRINGSTRING
STRING protein interaction network
Nodes:
Network nodes represent proteins
splice isoforms or post-translational modifications are collapsed, i.e. each node represents all the proteins produced by a single, protein-coding gene locus.
Node Color
colored nodes:
query proteins and first shell of interactors
white nodes:
second shell of interactors
Node Content
empty nodes:
proteins of unknown 3D structure
filled nodes:
a 3D structure is known or predicted
Edges:
Edges represent protein-protein associations
associations are meant to be specific and meaningful, i.e. proteins jointly contribute to a shared function; this does not necessarily mean they are physically binding to each other.
Known Interactions
from curated databases
experimentally determined
Predicted Interactions
gene neighborhood
gene fusions
gene co-occurrence
Others
textmining
co-expression
protein homology

CapaCardio acceleratory peptide 2b; Capability (Capa) encodes three neuropeptides: two of the periviscerokinin family (CAPA-1 and CAPA-2) and one pyrokinin (pyrokinin-1) that activate the class A GPCRs encoded by CapaR and PK1-R respectively. Capa is expressed in neurosecretory cells innervating corpora cardiaca and abdomen. CAPA-1 and -2 act as diuretic hormones on the Malpighian tubules. (151 aa)
Predicted Functional Partners:
CapaR
Neuropeptides capa receptor; Acts as a receptor for the neuropeptides CAP-1 and CAP-2, but not CAP-3. Probably a component of signal transduction pathway that leads to Malpighian tubule fluid secretion in response to these ligands.

 0.925
Hug
Protein hugin; Probably has a role in larval molting; Belongs to the pyrokinin family.

 0.900
PK1-R
Pyrokinin-1 receptor; Receptor for the neuropeptide CAP-3/pyrokinin-1 (TGPSASSGLWFGPRL-amide). Also activated weakly by other neuropeptides terminating in the sequence PRL-amide including pyrokinin-2, Hug-gamma, and ecdysis-triggering-hormone-1. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate a phosphatidyl-inositol-calcium second messenger system.

 0.871
Lk
Leucokinin (Lk) encodes a neuropeptide that regulates water balance and food intake. Three groups of leucokinergic neurons are identified in the brain and abdominal ganglion of larvae and adults. Serotonin and insulin peptides have receptors in the abdominal leucokinergic neurons.

 0.792
PK2-R2
Pyrokinin 2 receptor 2 (PK2-R2) encodes a G protein-coupled receptor that binds the neuropeptide encoded by Hug with high affinity. After binding, a second messenger cascade is initiated in cells that are target for the product of Hug (mainly neurons of the central nervous system).

 0.752
ETH
Ecdysis triggering hormone (ETH) encodes two peptides (DrmETH1 and DrmETH2) involved in ecdysis. ETH depletion leads to respiratory and behavioral deficits, unsuccessful ecdysis and lethality.

 0.713
Dh31
Diuretic hormone class 2; Regulation of fluid secretion. Stimulates Malpighian tubules fluid secretion by activating the apical membrane V-ATPase via cyclic AMP of principal cells in the main secretory segment.

 0.689
aft
Cap-specific mRNA (nucleoside-2'-O-)-methyltransferase 2; Probable S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methyltransferase that mediates mRNA cap2 2'-O-ribose methylation to the 5'-cap structure of mRNAs. May methylate the ribose of the second nucleotide of a m(7)GpppG-capped mRNA (cap0) to produce m(7)GpppRmpNm (cap2) (By similarity). Regulates expression of tracheal genes required for pathfinding on the segmental nerve.

 0.669
sNPF
Short neuropeptide F precursor (sNPF) encodes a protein that binds to the product of sNPF-R and activates ERK-Dilps signaling or the PKA-CREB pathway. Its roles include the regulation of cell and organism growth, carbohydrate metabolism, lifespan, feeding behavior, locomotion, circadian rhythm, and sleep.

 0.653
Pdf
PDF precursor-related peptide; Pigment-dispersing factor (Pdf) encodes a secreted biologically active neuropeptide that acts via a specific G-protein-coupled receptor to trigger intracellular signaling. It has a prominent role in the physiology of circadian rhythms, as well as contributing to other processes such as control of flight and digestion.
