STRINGSTRING
STRING protein interaction network
Nodes:
Network nodes represent proteins
splice isoforms or post-translational modifications are collapsed, i.e. each node represents all the proteins produced by a single, protein-coding gene locus.
Node Color
colored nodes:
query proteins and first shell of interactors
white nodes:
second shell of interactors
Node Content
empty nodes:
proteins of unknown 3D structure
filled nodes:
a 3D structure is known or predicted
Edges:
Edges represent protein-protein associations
associations are meant to be specific and meaningful, i.e. proteins jointly contribute to a shared function; this does not necessarily mean they are physically binding to each other.
Known Interactions
from curated databases
experimentally determined
Predicted Interactions
gene neighborhood
gene fusions
gene co-occurrence
Others
textmining
co-expression
protein homology

Score
Rv0597cRv0597c, (MTCY19H5.25), len: 411 aa. Conserved hypothetical protein, highly similar to Rv3179 conserved hypothetical protein from Mycobacterium tuberculosis (429 aa). Also similar to AAF76191.1|AF271296_1|AF271296 putative ATP/GTP binding protein from Mycobacterium smegmatis (428 aa); Rv2008c|YW09_MYCTU|Q10849 conserved hypothetical protein from Mycobacterium tuberculosis (441 aa), FASTA scores: opt: 270, E(): 3.6e-11, (30.5% identity in 416 aa overlap) (N-terminus longer). Also similar to other hypothetical proteins e.g. NP_085874.1|NC_002679 hypothetical protein from Mesorhizobium lo [...] (411 aa)
Predicted Functional Partners:
vapC4
Possible toxin VapC4; Toxic component of a type II toxin-antitoxin (TA) system. Probably exerts its toxic effect by binding to mRNA, inhibiting translation. Binds to, recognizes and cleaves ssRNA at ACGC and AC(A/U)GC sequences, usually between the G and C; cleavage is not very efficient, nor is cleavage required to inhibit protein synthesis. Upon expression in situ, in M.smegmatis or E.coli inhibits cell growth and colony formation; in at least E.coli also causes increased levels of cellular RNA. Its toxic effect is neutralized by coexpression with cognate antitoxin VapB4.

vapB4
Possible antitoxin VapB4; Antitoxin component of a type II toxin-antitoxin (TA) system. Antitoxin that counteracts the effect of its cognate VapC4 toxin. Upon expression in situ, in M.smegmatis or E.coli neutralizes the effect of cognate toxin VapC4.

Rv0919
GCN5-related N-acetyltransferase; Rv0919, (MTCY21C12.13), len: 166 aa. Probable acetyltransferase. Contains GNAT (Gcn5-related N-acetyltransferase) domain. See Vetting et al. 2005. Some similarity to Q50115 hypothetical protein from Mycobacterium leprae (90 aa), FASTA scores: opt: 243, E(): 5.3e-11, (56.5% identity in 85 aa overlap). Alternative nucleotide at position 1025106 (T->C; F141F) has been observed.

vapC27
Possible toxin VapC27. Contains PIN domain; Probably the toxic component of a type II toxin-antitoxin (TA) system. An RNase (By similarity). Its cognate antitoxin is VapB27. Belongs to the PINc/VapC protein family.

    0.450
vapB27
Possible antitoxin VapB27; Antitoxin component of a type II toxin-antitoxin (TA) system. Cognate toxin is VapC27. Upon expression in E.coli partially counteracts the ribonuclease activity of non-cognate toxins MazF6 and MazF9; Belongs to the VapB family.
