STRINGSTRING
NOS2 protein (Bos taurus) - STRING interaction network
"NOS2" - Nitric oxide synthase, inducible in Bos taurus
Nodes:
Network nodes represent proteins
splice isoforms or post-translational modifications are collapsed, i.e. each node represents all the proteins produced by a single, protein-coding gene locus.
Node Color
colored nodes:
query proteins and first shell of interactors
white nodes:
second shell of interactors
Node Content
empty nodes:
proteins of unknown 3D structure
filled nodes:
some 3D structure is known or predicted
Edges:
Edges represent protein-protein associations
associations are meant to be specific and meaningful, i.e. proteins jointly contribute to a shared function; this does not necessarily mean they are physically binding each other.
Known Interactions
from curated databases
experimentally determined
Predicted Interactions
gene neighborhood
gene fusions
gene co-occurrence
Others
textmining
co-expression
protein homology

NOS2Nitric oxide synthase, inducible; Produces nitric oxide (NO) which is a messenger molecule with diverse functions throughout the body. In macrophages, NO mediates tumoricidal and bactericidal actions. Also has nitrosylase activity and mediates cysteine S-nitrosylation of cytoplasmic target proteins such PTGS2/COX2. As component of the iNOS-S100A8/9 transnitrosylase complex involved in the selective inflammatory stimulus-dependent S-nitrosylation of GAPDH implicated in regulation of the GAIT complex activity and probably multiple targets including ANXA5, EZR, MSN and VIM. Involved in in [...] (1156 aa)
Predicted Functional Partners:
ARG1
Arginase-1; Bos taurus arginase, liver (ARG1), mRNA (322 aa)

  0.988
ENSBTAG00000025644
Calmodulin; Calmodulin mediates the control of a large number of enzymes, ion channels, aquaporins and other proteins by Ca(2+). Among the enzymes to be stimulated by the calmodulin-Ca(2+) complex are a number of protein kinases and phosphatases. Together with CCP110 and centrin, is involved in a genetic pathway that regulates the centrosome cycle and progression through cytokinesis (By similarity) (149 aa)

  0.976
CALM
Calmodulin; Bos taurus calmodulin-like (CALM), mRNA (149 aa)

  0.974
ARG2
Arginase-2, mitochondrial; May play a role in the regulation of extra-urea cycle arginine metabolism and also in down-regulation of nitric oxide synthesis. Extrahepatic arginase functions to regulate L-arginine bioavailability to nitric oxid synthase (NOS). Arginine metabolism is a critical regulator of innate and adaptive immune responses. Seems to be involved in negative regulation of the survival capacity of activated T cells. May suppress inflammation-related signaling in asthmatic airway epithelium. May play a role in promoting prenatal immune suppression. Regulates RPS6KB1 signal [...] (354 aa)

  0.971
CAT
Catalase; Occurs in almost all aerobically respiring organisms and serves to protect cells from the toxic effects of hydrogen peroxide. Promotes growth of cells; Belongs to the catalase family (527 aa)

  0.956
CALM2
Bos taurus calmodulin 3 (phosphorylase kinase, delta) (CALM3), mRNA; Calmodulin mediates the control of a large number of enzymes, ion channels, aquaporins and other proteins by Ca(2+).

AKT1
RAC-alpha serine/threonine-protein kinase; AKT1 is one of 3 closely related serine/threonine- protein kinases (AKT1, AKT2 and AKT3) called the AKT kinase, and which regulate many processes including metabolism, proliferation, cell survival, growth and angiogenesis. This is mediated through serine and/or threonine phosphorylation of a range of downstream substrates. Over 100 substrate candidates have been reported so far, but for most of them, no isoform specificity has been reported. AKT is responsible of the regulation of glucose uptake by mediating insulin-induced translocation of th [...] (472 aa)

  0.937
ASL
Bos taurus argininosuccinate lyase (ASL), mRNA; Belongs to the lyase 1 family. Argininosuccinate lyase subfamily (473 aa)

  0.929
OTC
Ornithine carbamoyltransferase, mitochondrial; Bos taurus ornithine carbamoyltransferase (OTC), mRNA; Belongs to the ATCase/OTCase family (354 aa)

  0.921
AGXT
Bos taurus alanine-glyoxylate aminotransferase (AGXT), mRNA (414 aa)

  0.921
