STRINGSTRING
STRING protein interaction network
Nodes:
Network nodes represent proteins
splice isoforms or post-translational modifications are collapsed, i.e. each node represents all the proteins produced by a single, protein-coding gene locus.
Node Color
colored nodes:
query proteins and first shell of interactors
white nodes:
second shell of interactors
Node Content
empty nodes:
proteins of unknown 3D structure
filled nodes:
a 3D structure is known or predicted
Edges:
Edges represent protein-protein associations
associations are meant to be specific and meaningful, i.e. proteins jointly contribute to a shared function; this does not necessarily mean they are physically binding to each other.
Known Interactions
from curated databases
experimentally determined
Predicted Interactions
gene neighborhood
gene fusions
gene co-occurrence
Others
textmining
co-expression
protein homology

aceKIsocitrate dehydrogenase kinase/phosphatase; Bifunctional enzyme which can phosphorylate or dephosphorylate isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) on a specific serine residue. This is a regulatory mechanism which enables bacteria to bypass the Krebs cycle via the glyoxylate shunt in response to the source of carbon. When bacteria are grown on glucose, IDH is fully active and unphosphorylated, but when grown on acetate or ethanol, the activity of IDH declines drastically concomitant with its phosphorylation. (583 aa)
Predicted Functional Partners:
aceA
Isocitrate lyase; Involved in the metabolic adaptation in response to environmental changes. Catalyzes the reversible formation of succinate and glyoxylate from isocitrate, a key step of the glyoxylate cycle, which operates as an anaplerotic route for replenishing the tricarboxylic acid cycle during growth on fatty acid substrates.

 0.994
icdA
Isocitrate dehydrogenase in e14 prophage; Specific for NADP+; similar to E. coli isocitrate dehydrogenase, specific for NADP+ (AAC74220.1); Blastp hit to AAC74220.1 (416 aa), 96% identity in aa 1 - 416.

 0.942
aceB
Similar to E. coli malate synthase A (AAC76984.1); Blastp hit to AAC76984.1 (533 aa), 90% identity in aa 1 - 533.

 0.887
acs
acetyl-CoA synthetase; Catalyzes the conversion of acetate into acetyl-CoA (AcCoA), an essential intermediate at the junction of anabolic and catabolic pathways. Acs undergoes a two-step reaction. In the first half reaction, Acs combines acetate with ATP to form acetyl-adenylate (AcAMP) intermediate. In the second half reaction, it can then transfer the acetyl group from AcAMP to the sulfhydryl group of CoA, forming the product AcCoA.

 0.642
gapA
Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase A; Catalyzes the oxidative phosphorylation of glyceraldehyde 3- phosphate (G3P) to 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate (BPG) using the cofactor NAD. The first reaction step involves the formation of a hemiacetal intermediate between G3P and a cysteine residue, and this hemiacetal intermediate is then oxidized to a thioester, with concomitant reduction of NAD to NADH. The reduced NADH is then exchanged with the second NAD, and the thioester is attacked by a nucleophilic inorganic phosphate to produce BPG.

 0.581
iclR
Acetate operon transcriptional repressor; Regulation of the glyoxylate bypass operon, which encodes isocitrate lyase, malate synthase as well as isocitrate dehydrogenase kinase/phosphorylase.

 0.578
STM4057
Putative inner membrane protein.

 0.577
yhiQ
Putative SAM-dependent methyltransferase; Specifically methylates the guanosine in position 1516 of 16S rRNA.

 0.450
yiiD
Similar to E. coli putative acetyltransferase (AAD13450.1); Blastp hit to AAD13450.1 (329 aa), 93% identity in aa 1 - 329.
